featuring Oliver Stone

Saturday, March 29th at 7:00pm

In December of 1986, “Platoon” was released in cinemas, received four out of four stars from legendary film critic Roger Ebert, and was off and running. The film went on to receive eight Oscar nominations, winning four, including Best Picture and Best Director for film icon Oliver Stone.

Oliver Stone, an Academy Award-winning screenwriter and director, won his first Oscar - Best Adapted Screenplay - for Midnight Express in 1978. Following that, he won Best Director Oscars for Platoon (1986) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989.) Stone went on to create several hit films, including The Doors (1991,) JFK (1991,) Natural Born Killers (1994,) and Nixon (1995.)

Following the screening of “Platoon” we will host a discussion and Q&A with Oliver Stone along with a collection of cast and crew from the film. Capping off the event, Mr. Stone will be presented with the Phoenix Film Festival Copper Wing Tribute Award.
